What is Orlos?

Orlos is a weight loss capsule containing orlistat 60mg. It works by blocking the enzymes that digest fat in your gut, preventing around 25% of the fat you eat from being absorbed. The unabsorbed fat passes through your digestive system and is eliminated naturally.

Unlike prescription-strength orlistat (120mg, sold as Xenical), Orlos is available without a prescription for adults with a BMI of 28 or above. It’s the same active ingredient, just at a lower dose with fewer side effects.

Orlos is ideal if you prefer tablets over injections, want an affordable option, or are looking for something to complement your diet and exercise routine.

How effective is Orlos?

Orlos provides steady, sustainable weight loss when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and regular exercise. Clinical studies have shown the following results:

  • People using orlistat 60mg lost 50% more weight than those following diet alone — for example, losing 6kg instead of 4kg over the same period.
  • Over 6 months, most people lose 5-10% of their body weight when combining Orlos with a reduced-calorie diet. For someone weighing 100kg, that’s 5-10kg.
  • Orlos works locally in the gut and is not absorbed into the bloodstream, making it a well-tolerated option with a strong safety profile.

While weight loss is more moderate compared to injectable treatments like Wegovy or Mounjaro, Orlos is the most affordable option and requires no injections — making it an excellent starting point for your weight loss journey.

How does Orlos work?

Orlos contains the active ingredient orlistat 60mg, which works locally in your gut — it’s not absorbed into your bloodstream.

Rather than suppressing appetite like injectable treatments, Orlos reduces the amount of fat your body absorbs from the food you eat. Here’s what happens:

01

You eat a meal: Take one Orlos capsule with each main meal that contains fat. If your meal has no fat, you can skip that dose.

02

Fat digestion blocked: Orlistat attaches to the lipase enzymes in your gut that normally break down fat. When these enzymes are blocked, fat can’t be digested or absorbed.

03

Fat passes through: About 25% of the fat you eat passes through your system undigested and is eliminated naturally. This reduces your overall calorie intake without affecting how your body processes carbohydrates, protein, or sugar.

04

Encourages healthier habits: The treatment effects (such as oily stools) act as natural feedback, encouraging you to make lower-fat food choices. Many users find this helps them develop better long-term eating habits.

05

No injection required: Orlos is a simple capsule taken with meals — no needles, no pens, no cold storage. It’s the most accessible and affordable weight loss treatment option available.

Who is eligible for Orlos?

Orlos is available without a prescription and is designed for adults who want an accessible, affordable approach to weight loss. It’s a great option if you prefer capsules over injections.

Here’s what’s involved:

  • Eligibility: You’ll need a BMI of 28 or above and be aged 18 or older.
  • Lifestyle support: Orlos should be used alongside a reduced-calorie, lower-fat diet and regular exercise for best results.
  • When it’s considered: It’s ideal for those who prefer tablets over injections, want an affordable option, or are looking for something to complement their diet and exercise routine.
  • No prescription needed: Unlike Wegovy and Mounjaro, Orlos is available without a prescription — making it the most accessible weight loss treatment.
  • Pharmacist review: Our pharmacists will review your details to ensure Orlos is safe and appropriate for you before your order is dispatched.

Who shouldn’t use Orlos?

Orlos isn’t suitable for everyone. It should not be used if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have chronic malabsorption syndrome.
  • Have cholestasis (bile flow problems).
  • Are taking ciclosporin, warfarin, or other anticoagulants.
  • Have had an allergic reaction to orlistat or any of its ingredients.
  • Have a BMI under 28.

Instructions

How to take Orlos

Taking Orlos is simple — it’s an easy-to-swallow capsule you take with your main meals, up to three times a day. No injections, no complicated devices. Just take one capsule immediately before, during, or up to one hour after each meal that contains fat. If your meal is fat-free or you skip a meal, you don’t need to take a capsule.

Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1

Take with meals

  • Take one 60mg capsule with each main meal that contains fat — up to three times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner).
  • Take immediately before, during, or up to one hour after your meal.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.

Step 2

Manage your fat intake

  • Aim for meals with no more than 15g of fat each. Spread your fat intake evenly across meals rather than having one high-fat meal.
  • If your meal contains no fat, or you skip a meal, you don’t need to take a capsule.
  • Eating too much fat in one meal can increase treatment effects like oily stools — keeping fat intake low reduces these significantly.

Step 3

Take a daily multivitamin

  • Since Orlos blocks fat absorption, it can also reduce absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K.
  • Take a daily multivitamin containing vitamins A, D, E and K at bedtime — at least 2 hours after your last Orlos dose.
  • This ensures your body still gets the essential vitamins it needs while taking the treatment.

Step 4

Review your progress

  • Review your weight loss progress after 12 weeks. If you haven’t lost at least 5% of your body weight, Orlos may not be the right approach for you.
  • Orlos can be used long-term if it’s working for you, or you can transition to maintaining healthy eating habits once you’ve reached your goal.
  • Store capsules at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight. No refrigeration needed.

FAQs

Things you should know about Orlos

Yes, Orlos and Alli both contain the same active ingredient (orlistat 60mg) at the same dose. They work identically — the only difference is the brand name and manufacturer. Orlos is typically more affordable than Alli.

Both contain orlistat, but at different strengths. Orlos contains 60mg (available without prescription), while Xenical contains 120mg (prescription-only). Xenical blocks more fat but has more pronounced side effects. For most people, Orlos provides a good balance of effectiveness and tolerability.

Results vary, but clinical studies show people using orlistat 60mg lose 50% more weight than diet alone. On average, if you’d lose 4kg with diet alone, you might lose 6kg with Orlos. Over 6 months, most people lose 5-10% of their body weight when combining Orlos with a reduced-calorie diet.

The oily discharge and urgent bowel movements only happen if you eat too much fat. If you keep your fat intake to around 15g per meal (45g daily), most people experience minimal or no side effects. Think of these effects as feedback — they teach you to make better food choices. Many users find the side effects motivate them to stick to a healthier diet.

Yes, but with caution. Severe diarrhoea can reduce absorption of oral contraceptives. If you experience significant diarrhoea while taking Orlos, use additional contraception (such as condoms) to be safe. This is particularly important to consider.

It’s recommended to take a daily multivitamin containing vitamins A, D, E and K. Since Orlos blocks fat absorption, it can also reduce absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Take your multivitamin at bedtime, at least 2 hours after your last Orlos dose.

Orlos can be taken for as long as needed, but it’s recommended to review your progress after 12 weeks. If you haven’t lost at least 5% of your body weight by then, Orlos may not be the right approach for you and you should consider other options or speak to your GP.

Most side effects are related to fat passing through your system and reduce if you eat less fat. Very common effects include oily or fatty stools, oily spotting on underwear, urgent need to go to the toilet, increased bowel movements, and flatulence with discharge. Common effects include abdominal pain, headache, irregular periods, anxiety, and fatigue. Rare but serious side effects can include allergic reactions, liver problems, pancreatitis, and kidney stones. Stop taking and seek medical help if you have severe stomach pain, yellowing of skin or eyes, or allergic reaction symptoms.
