How to use Dutasteride + Minoxidil

The combination is straightforward to use: one Dutasteride capsule taken orally each day, plus topical Minoxidil 5% applied twice daily to the scalp. Both medications need to be used consistently to work — the best results come from building them into a simple daily routine.

Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1

Take one Dutasteride capsule daily

  • Take one 0.5mg Dutasteride capsule every day, at roughly the same time each day.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush, or open the capsules.
  • You can take Dutasteride with or without food — it doesn’t affect absorption.

Step 2

Apply Minoxidil 5% twice daily

  • Apply 1ml of Minoxidil 5% to dry, clean scalp in the thinning areas, twice daily (morning and evening).
  • Massage gently into the scalp with your fingertips, then wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Allow Minoxidil to dry completely (around 2-4 hours) before going to bed, showering, or using styling products.

Be patient and stay consistent

  • Expect temporary increased shedding within the first 2-8 weeks, particularly from Minoxidil. This is normal and indicates old hairs making way for new, stronger ones.
